A piece of Mexico, right here on York Boulevard

Habanero MX was born from a simple conviction: that the flavors of home should never be out of reach. What started as a modest corner shop has grown into a neighborhood staple — a place where abuelas come for masa, where students grab a fresh pastel de leche on their way to class, and where every corner of the store carries the scent of something made with intention.

We import directly from family-run producers in Jalisco, Oaxaca, and Puebla. Our bakery team begins before dawn so that by the time you walk in, the pan dulce is warm, the tortillas are pliable, and the chiles are waiting to transform your Sunday mole into something your family will remember all year.

This isn't a grocery store that happens to sell Mexican food. It's a Mexican market that happens to be in Los Angeles — and that distinction matters to everyone who walks through our doors.

Imported Ingredients

Direct from Mexican producers — chiles, moles, masa, and spices you won't find elsewhere.

Baked Before Dawn

Every morning our bakers start at first light so your pan dulce is fresh when we open.

Community Focused

A gathering place for the neighborhood — recipes shared, memories made, traditions kept alive.

From our shelves to your kitchen

Every product is chosen with care — whether it's a bag of masa for tamales, a bottle of molé negro for Sunday dinner, or the specific brand of tortillas your tía swears by.

Baker kneading dough in a traditional Mexican bakery

The heart of Habanero MX beats in our oven

Our bakery team arrives before sunrise. Every concha is pressed by hand. Every bolillo is scored with the same motion their teachers showed them. This is not mass production — it is craft, repeated faithfully, day after day.

01

Conchas

Our most popular item — sugar-topped rolls in vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry, with a crisp exterior and cloud-soft interior.

02

Pan de Muerto

Available year-round, legendary in October. Orange-blossom enriched bread decorated with bone-shaped dough and powdered sugar.

03

Breakfast Pastries

Cuernos, cuernos de chivo, ensaymadas, and palanquetas — the kind of pastries that make Monday mornings bearable.
